Let's continue with Mixia's Santalune Gym challenge!
"Defeated a Misty-wannabe, check. Defeated a schoolboy with monkeys, check" Mixia is training her Fletchling to take on the Santalune Gym.
And suddenly, something dig out beneath the tall grass.
"What? A Dunsparce? Seriously one of the Pokemon I ran into is a Dunsparce! Must... throw... Poke Ball!" Mixia excitingly whispered. Then, the Poke Ball did manage to catch the rare land snake Pokemon. She then named it Loca.
"Now, time to head for the Gym!" Mixia then notice the Roller Skater that skated past her and tries to talk to the Roller Skater.
"Roller Skates? Never heard of these things." said Mixia.
"What? You don't have a pair of them? Okay, if you defeat me in a Pokemon Battle, you can have a spare pair of them!" said the Roller Skater. She then sends out a Zigzagoon.
"Zigzagoon. This should be easy." thought Mixia. The Fletchling do managed to defeat Zigzagoon.
"Here you go! A pair of skates as I promised!" said the Roller Skater.
"They look nifty. I'll try them to see whether the skates work." said Mixia.
"Woohoo!!!" Mixia enjoyed the skates.
"But I'd best get to the Gym and go for my first badge! I'd better stop fooling around!" Mixia told herself.
Inside the Gym, there's a note which is about a Bug Pokemon, which is also a Ghost-type:
"There's a Pokemon whose shell is discarded through metamorphosis that becomes one with the spirits. All attacks cannot penetrate that ghastly shell expect the element fire, flying techniques, dark forces, contact with rock and the spiritual force itself."
"That must be Shedinja," Mixia said. "I can't wait to see how it does in battle! Sadly, I can't find a Shedinja somewhere..."
Making her way through the labyrith-esque spider web maze, hearing about how quickly Bug-types evolve, she then meets Viola, the bug photographer.
"Hello, I'm Mixia, soon-to-be Ghost trainer. I have no Pokemon which are Ghost-type, so I'd like to know how Shedinja is formed." Mixia introduced herself.
"Then you've come to the right place! Shedinja forms when Nincada evolves into Ninjask. When Nincada undergoes an evolution, its wings starts to sprout out and within its shell Ninjasks appears. The discarded shell is then formed with supernatural force. This is what makes a Sheindja. This unique evolution is called Metamorphosis. I'm not sure if there are other Pokemon that evolve that way. So, if you want Ninjask and Shedinja at the same time, have an empty Poke Ball, leave about one or two out of six slots in your team and Shedinja will then take up the empty slot." Viola lectured.
"Interesting lecture. Now how about my first badge?" Mixia changed the topic.
Mixia then has to listen to Viola's boring greeting speech, and the Gym Leader snapped a photo of Mixia's cute face, leaving the trainer confused.
"Inner Focus... Inner Focus... Let's do this Fletchling!" Mixia then sends out the bird Pokemon.
Viola sends out a water strider-like Pokemon, Surskit. The peck from the Fletchling cripples Surskit, but Viola quickly sprayed a Potion onto the Surskit. As the bird is about to mark the blow, Surskit swiftly attacked as its last resort.
Then Viola sends out Vivillon, the butterfly Pokemon which its patterns are collected around the world. Fletchling quickly peck it, but then Mixia realises that the butterfly is faster than the bird, so she tells Fletchling to use Agility. Soaring with energy, Fletchling brought the butterfly low with a critical peck.
"Well, that was easy." said Mixia.
"Here's the Bug Badge. Oh, would you like to try out Infestation? I heard some Ghost-types are capable of using this move." said Viola as she handed the Ledyba- like badge and a TM to Mixia.
"What works well with Infestation?" thought Mixia.
Mixia then left the Gym, and had her Fletchling healed.

The Fletchling that helped Mixia to complete the Gym challenge
Level 14, Naughty
Tackle, Agility, Quick Attack, Peck
Author's note
Fletchling's evolutionary line, perhaps one of the most useful Pokemon of this generation, battle-wise and field-wise.
Shedinja. Yes, it could have some use.
The 'mark the blow' technique involves using an attack with higher PP remaining or an attack with increased priority to take down the opposing Pokemons with very few HP left. Useful if you want to save up PP or avoiding Spite.
